South Scottsdale is the most historically preserved and, at the same time, the urbanest area of Scottsdale. South Scottsdale includes the area north of McKellips Road, east of 64th Street, south of Doubletree Ranch Road and west of Pima Road. From McKellips Road to Doubletree Ranch Road you’ll find nearly everything you would find in a major metropolitan city.
The amenities include Old Town Scottsdale with many shops, famous art galleries, nightclubs, and an eclectic assortment of restaurants to suit the tourist and the foodie alike. The area includes the City Civic Center and Center for Performing Arts, Desert Botanical Gardens; Fashion Square Mall featuring Nordstrom’s, Neiman-Marcus, Barney’s, Macy’s, Dillard’s and a host of shops that include nearly every major retailer imaginable and a plenty of big-box restaurants. There are plazas residents can walk to near every housing area in South Scottsdale. South Scottsdale has parks galore and is home to a multi-use green belt for hikers and bikers.
Homes for sale in South Scottsdale include both single and multi-family dwellings, as well as condominiums and townhomes. There are historic properties, built in the post-war boom of the 50’s, as well as brand new ultra-modern high-rise condominiums. More than 300 homes built in the postwar era in South Scottsdale are now on the National Historic Register.
There are both public and private golf courses nearby and downtown Phoenix is fifteen minutes away. For the hikers, Camelback Mountain is 10 minutes away and McDowell Mountains are 15 minutes from South Scottsdale.
